Wai Lok Suen
Wai Lok Suen, who is from Hong Kong, divides his time between China and the UK where he is a doctoral researcher in Education at the University of Oxford. His academic work focuses on using Game Theory – the science of strategy – to create better approaches to learning for future generations seeking to study in the field of economics and the field of mathematics. He puts this research into practice through his continuing work in universities in UK and a school in mainland China.
He has an MPhil in Finance with a specialisation in Financial Engineering from the University of Cambridge and, for his first degree, gained a BSc (Hons.) in Mathematics with Economics from University College London.
His life’s passion is visible in a constant engagement with learning in a variety of forms, all of them focused on bringing education alive, turning knowledge to the greater benefit of society.
While Wai Lok Suen runs an asset management firm in Hong Kong, he also maintains constant involvement in projects where his mathematical skills are valued. He seeks to work on projects that not only have commercial value but aim to help society at large through the development of software to improve automated processes in the field of electrical engineering.
Developing the capacity of young learners to think independently and apply with confidence their intuition based on all they have been taught by way of reasoning is at the heart of all Wai Lok Suen’s work.
A proud father of three, he greatly enjoys family time and is a keen chess player. He also enjoys playing tennis, and loves to take on adventures – with an open water diver certificate, he is also currently training for a Private Pilot License (PPL) through the Civil Aviation Authority.
