The course is for students with an enquiring mind and an interest in experiencing China from the inside.

Two courses: 13 July to 26 July 2025; and 20 July – 02 August 2025.

Course fees for a two-week programme include lessons in Mandarin; workshops, lectures and seminars; guided tours plus the exciting Silk Road Adventure. Accommodation in a student residence, with bed linen and towels. All meals, 3 per day plus Chinese Street Party and Farewell BBQ. Medical and travel insurance. Price £4,895 (of which the non-refundable booking fee is £900).

The language component of the programme caters for students at Beginner, post-Beginner and Intermediate levels of proficiency in Mandarin. Students will have opportunities to meet Chinese students from Lanzhou Oriental Middle School. All other activities are conducted in English.

All staff are local bi-lingual teachers, activity leaders and pastoral staff based at our partner school in Lanzhou. They are supported by experienced course leaders from the UK. All have appropriate training in safeguarding and first aid.

No. However, assistance with booking flights from London Heathrow to Beijing International Airport with connecting flights to Lanzhou, and return can be arranged upon request.

Yes. Upon request, assistance with visas and travel permits to China can be arranged on behalf of course participants once appropriate personal details have been supplied. Insurance covers medical claims up to £100,000 and includes cover for covid delays etc.

Any cancellation must be received in writing. The booking fee is not refundable after the two-week cooling-off period. Any further fees will be refunded according to the following sliding scale: before 28.02.24 – 100%, between 28.02.24 and 30.04.24 – 50%, between 30.04.24 and 30.06.24 – 10%.
