Description: An evening in aid of spiritual teacher and humanitarian Shaykh Taner Ansari. Music from Jewish ladino traditions of Sephardic Spain and Turkish Sufi traditions with Silk Roads Ensemble.

World-class flautist and composer Paul Cheneour whose film credits include Hideous Kinky and 6th Happiness, and documentary credits such as BBC2’s Egyptian Journeys, plays European flutes, Japanese and Indian bamboo flutes, and Turkish and Arabic neys, encompassing eastern and western music. Guest artist Andrew Salida is a member of Los Desterrados, the premier sephardic group in the UK, playing flute and guitar, and singing in ‘ladino’ the Judeo-Spanish language of the sephardic diaspora. Also featuring Lennie Charles on cello and Khaled Hakim on Sufi daf.
With Sufi readings and a charity book sale, the evening closes with a short Sufi zikr.
