Description: Silk Roads own Sufi Drummers led by Khaled Hakim share the main stage with Arabian Dance Theatre and artistic director Shafeek Ibrahim. The Sufi Drummers are graduates from the daf workshops that have been running every Saturday. Performance time 1.55pm.
Drummers will also perform at the Arena space for the Pucara CMS martial arts display at 4.15pm

Description: Every Saturday learn to play the daf in the UK’s only Sufi daf classes. The sessions will introduce participants to the Sufi rhythms and styles of Turkish, Persian, and Arab Sufi practices. Suitable for 8 years upwards. Frame-drums available for learning and for sale at venue.

Travel News: On Wembley event days free parking is available for two hours in the local Asda car park which adjoins Chalkhill Community Centre (access from Forty Avenue opposite the town hall, park at the far end and walk down stairs to Chalkhill Road)
Description: Rezia Wahid will lead weaving workshops on Thursday 3 June in a world arts day that includes free craft, music and dance workshops for all the family. Theatre of Making in association with The Basingstoke Multicultural Forum, Willis Museum and Fairfields Arts Centre.
Rezia will also lead workshops at Chiltern Primary School and Park View Junior School on 20 and 21 May 2010.

Description:Silk Roads is delighted to participate in the launch of the international touring exhibition of ‘1001 Inventions’ – a celebration of Muslim contributions to science. The gala invitation-only event on 25 May Tuesday evening is hosted by the Science Museum where the exhibition is currently running.
Heading the entertainment is Al Farabi Ensemble, with tanoura performances by Shafeek Ibrahim. Music will also be provided in the exhibition space by Cahit Baylav playing oud and violin, and by Kalia Baklitzanaki playing ney.
Description: A gala Muslim awards event attended by leading politicians and dignitaries. Silk Roads was proud to be invited to this prestigious event to present an adaptation of ‘The Lady and the Suitors’ from Thousand and One Nights -performed by BAFTA-nominated Alia Alzougbi, with music by Paul Cheneour on flutes and ney, and Khaled Hakim on percussion. Paul and Khaled later gave a short music performance with flutes, voice, and daf.
